Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak has used her social media platform to comment on the ongoing government shutdown and its economic impact, particularly in North Dakota. In a series of posts on November 7, 2025, she attributed financial losses to the continued impasse in Congress.

In her first post, Fedorchak highlighted the economic toll of the shutdown, stating: ".@GOPMajorityWhip is right. The financial losses incurred during this shutdown are having serious impacts on the economy.

Each week the shutdown continues, North Dakota loses $41M in state GDP.

All because @SenSchumer refuses to compromise." (November 7, 2025)

Later that day, she expressed appreciation for actions taken by President Biden regarding ranchers' concerns: "This echoes much of what I hear from North Dakota ranchers. Thank you, @POTUS!" (November 7, 2025)

In another statement posted that evening, Fedorchak criticized Senate Democrats for their role in the shutdown: "Because @SenateDems are not feeling the consequences of the shutdown they caused, they continue to hold the American people hostage.

The American people deserve better." (November 7, 2025)

Shutdowns have historically resulted from budgetary disagreements between parties in Congress and can lead to significant disruptions in federal services and local economies. According to previous analyses by state officials and economists, extended federal shutdowns can cost states millions of dollars each week in lost productivity and reduced economic activity.

Julie Fedorchak represents North Dakota in Congress and has previously focused on issues affecting rural communities and state-level economic stability.
