BCHS Hosts North Dakota Student Art Show from October 8 through October 31st.

Since 1998, the Taube Museum of Art has hosted the annual North Dakota Student Art Show. Each spring, teachers of K-12 in North Dakota schools select student artwork to enter in the exhibition, which is juried at the Taube Museum of Art in Minot. Of the hundreds of entries each year, jurors select three pieces for the Governor’s Award, to be hung in Governor Doug Burgum’s office, four for the State of the Arts Award, sponsored by Senator Kevin Cramer, four for the Northern Visions Award, sponsored by Senator John Hoeven, and five for the Congressional Art Award, sponsored by Congressman Kelly Armstrong. These Selections will be hung in their offices the following year.

An additional 100 selections, including the Taube Museum of Art award winners, the People’s Choice, and Spotlight award winners, become a traveling exhibit for the following year.

This year’s judges were Arvin K. Davis Jr., artist and educator, and Justin Anderson, Director of the Minot Area Council on the Arts. Out of a total of 610 submissions this year, they selected 86 to be included in the Traveling exhibit. The Traveling Exhibit will be available for viewing at the following venues: ND State Fair in July, Lake Region Heritage Center in August, Cando Arts Center in September, Barnes County Historical Society Museum in October, Kindred High School in November and December, James Memorial Art Center in January, and the Dickinson Museum Center in March. Please reach out to these venues for exact dates.

The Taube Museum of Art annually promotes a diverse selection of exciting artist exhibitions, children’s art programs, as well as a variety of annual events. There is no charge for admission, but contributions are accepted to help the Taube Museum fulfill their mission of enriching lives through the visual arts.  Proceeds benefit the Taube Museum of Art, a non-profit art organization.
