About 67.5 percent of the 311 degrees and certificates handed out by Valley City State University in 2017-18 were to students in education programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in City conferred 149 bachelor's degrees and 33 master's degrees in education programs.

But the single most popular program was for a bachelor's degree in elementary education and teaching. Data shows the school gave out 100 bachelor's degrees in elementary education and teaching, followed by 31 master's degrees in technology teacher education/industrial arts teacher education and 24 bachelor's degrees in general business administration and management.

The university enrolled 1,547 students for 2017-18, including 1,404 in undergraduate programs and 143 in graduate programs.
