North Dakota State University senior Zach McGlynn has secured a spot in the heptathlon at the upcoming NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. The event is scheduled for March 13-14 in Fayetteville, Arkansas, with the heptathlon taking place over both days starting at 11 a.m. Central Time.
McGlynn enters the championships ranked sixth nationally in the heptathlon this season. Only the top 16 athletes in each individual event are invited to compete at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
Earlier this year, McGlynn set a new North Dakota State record in the heptathlon by scoring 5,975 points during competition on January 30-31. This surpassed the previous school record held by All-American Andy Lillejord from the 2013 NCAA Championships by 182 points.
This marks North Dakota State men’s first appearance at the NCAA Indoor Championships since Trevor Otterdahl finished fifth in the weight throw and earned first-team All-America honors in 2022.
The championships will be available for streaming on ESPN+.
