North Dakota State University senior Zach McGlynn will compete in the heptathlon at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships on March 13-14 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
McGlynn is one of the top 16 performers nationally invited to participate in each individual event at the championships. He enters the meet ranked sixth in the country for the heptathlon this season. The competition will be streamed live on ESPN+ and will begin at 11 a.m. Central Time both days.
Earlier this year, McGlynn broke North Dakota State’s school record in the heptathlon by scoring 5,975 points during a meet held on Jan. 30-31. This surpassed the previous record set by All-American Andy Lillejord at the 2013 NCAA Championships by 182 points. McGlynn is currently ranked fifth among Americans and twenty-first globally in the heptathlon for this year.
This marks North Dakota State men’s first appearance at the NCAA Indoor Championships since Trevor Otterdahl finished fifth in the weight throw in 2022, earning first-team All-America honors. In total, North Dakota State has claimed fourteen All-America honors in men’s indoor track and field at the Division I level.
The top eight finishers in each event at this year’s championships will earn first team All-American honors, while those placing ninth through sixteenth will be named second team All-Americans.
