Valley City State University (VCSU) announced on April 8 a series of upcoming campus events, faculty recognitions, and student activities scheduled throughout the month.

The announcement highlights several opportunities for students, staff, and community members to participate in campus life. Events include musical performances, athletic competitions, a wellness fair, and the annual scholarship auction.

The Employee Recognition Dinner is set for May 14 at The Reserve at Woodland. This event will honor retirements, years of service milestones, award recipients such as Difference Maker and Teacher of the Year, as well as those who have completed degrees or professional certifications. Recognized individuals will receive two complimentary tickets to the dinner; other employees are eligible for one free ticket with additional tickets available for purchase until April 30.

In music news, Heather Lewis will perform her senior tuba recital on April 11 at the Larry J. Robinson Center for the Arts Performance Hall. The public can also attend a piano recital by Norwegian concert pianist Oda Voltersvik on April 12 and enjoy a guest artist performance by Levante Duo on April 13—both free to attend.

Janna Kohler was named Staff Member of the Quarter in recognition of her work as director of Career Services and contributions to an inclusive campus environment through programs like Viking Pathway Program. Technology education faculty attended the ITEEA Conference in Virginia Beach where they accepted awards including STEM School of Excellence Award and participated in professional development sessions.

Other highlights include VCSU’s annual Wellness Fair scheduled for April 15 with health screenings and door prizes sponsored by local healthcare organizations. Tickets are also available for purchase for the university’s Scholarship Auction on April 17 at Valley City Eagles Club. Athletic updates detail changes in baseball and softball schedules due to weather conditions along with upcoming track & field meets and golf tournaments.
