Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak has recently used her social media platform to address several energy policy issues, including transmission costs in the MISO region, the proposed federal ban on gas stoves, and legislation related to cross-border energy infrastructure.

On September 16, 2025, Fedorchak commented on the cost allocation for transmission expansion in the Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) region. She stated, "The massive build out of transmission in the MISO region is driven by the aggressive decarbonization goals of several MISO states, but ND is not one of them. States must pay the costs of their own goals. The current formula in MISO doesn't follow this principle & must change".

Later that day, she criticized a Biden administration proposal regarding household appliances. In her post dated September 16, 2025, Fedorchak wrote, "The Biden administration proposed banning gas stoves—used in 40% of American homes—based on 9 paragraphs of 'research' from activists employed by an anti-fossil fuel nonprofit. That’s not science. That’s an agenda. WATCH my questioning in today’s @HouseCommerce hearing".

On September 17, 2025, Fedorchak announced upcoming legislative action: " On the House Floor tomorrow → The Promoting Cross-Border Energy Infrastructure Act. My bill streamlines permitting for projects that connect U.S. energy with international markets. Importantly, it will help prevent the next Keystone XL pipeline cancelation. Here’s how:".

Julie Fedorchak serves as a member of Congress representing North Dakota and has been active in debates concerning national energy policy and regional utility regulation.

The Midcontinent Independent System Operator (MISO) manages electricity transmission across multiple states and provinces; its cost allocation formulas have been subject to debate among member states regarding fairness and responsibility for grid upgrades.

Recent discussions about gas stove regulations emerged after studies raised concerns about indoor air quality and health risks associated with natural gas appliances; however, some lawmakers have questioned both the scientific basis and motivations behind these proposals.

The Keystone XL pipeline project was canceled by executive order in January 2021 amid ongoing controversy over environmental impacts versus economic benefits—a decision that continues to influence legislative efforts related to cross-border energy infrastructure projects.
