At the Fargo Public Library, weekly Summer Storytime sessions for children ages 2 to 6 are happening as part of the Summer Reading Challenge on Tuesdays at 10 a.m. at the Main Library and Wednesdays at 10 a.m. at the Carlson Library. Also, residents are encouraged to volunteer this summer at Carlson Library Learning Garden plots at 10 a.m. on Thursdays. A Jigsaw Puzzle Social and Swap will be June 17 at the Main Library at 1 p.m. You're also encouraged to take part in the Fargo History Hunt and discover and learn about 12 historic buildings in Downtown Fargo. Maps are available at all three library locations.
On June 8, the North Dakota State Water Commission approved $4.4 million in grant funding for Fargo’s Regional Water System Distribution Extension projects, which will benefit the Fargo and Cass Rural Water systems once constructed. The projects have been a cooperative effort between the Engineering Department and the Water Utility. The grant is distributed as a 60% State and 40% local cost share. Special thanks to Water Utility Engineer Dan Portlock, Division Engineer Nathan Boerboom and Ryan Grubb from AE2S for their work on the technical design and grant application. Every successful grant funding application for water system improvements helps with water rates to customers.
In May 2017, the Cass Clay Food Partners worked with the City Commission and amended the Fargo Municipal Code to allow residents to raise chickens in their backyards. This video will explain the proper process utilized to raise chickens in your backyard, as well as the benefits to our food system.
