The Northern Plains Ethics Institute and the NDSU Department of Political Science are scheduled to host a public forum, titled “Winter Amid War: Ukraine’s Current Challenges,” Thursday, Dec. 8, at noon in the Memorial Union’s Hidatsa room.

Motivational speaker Mark J. Lindquist will give the presentation, which also will be available via Zoom. A question and answer session will follow the program.

The event is open to the public and free of charge.

Lindquist is a Fargo-based Air Force Afghanistan war veteran who has been volunteering as a humanitarian aid worker in Ukraine for the past six months. He and his team have delivered millions of dollars of medical supplies and humanitarian aid to the war zone and the frontlines.

During the forum, Lindquist will share stories about the real-life situation on the ground and offer a perspective from 10 miles away from the Russian army. He’ll also discuss battlefield conditions and strategy that is playing out.

Donations of winter weather gear will be accepted at the door and Lindquist’s team will deliver them to Ukraine by Christmas.

“The audience will gain insight about what the media doesn’t show us, the incredible perseverance of the Ukrainian people and the simple ways Americans can help those fighting for their freedom this winter,” said Dennis Cooley, Northern Plains Ethics Institute director.
