NDSU is set to host events for Native American Heritage Month during November.

• The opening session is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 2, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the Memorial Union Sahnish room. Willard Yellow Bird (Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation member), Holiie Mackie (Northern Cheyenne) and Michael Gabbard (Delaware) will provide a welcome song and an honor song for all students.

Also on Nov. 2, the NDSU Tipi will be set up near the Babbling Brook from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors are welcome to take photos and walk inside.

• A presentation by Master of Public Health student Carissa Brown Otter (Standing Rock and Dine) is set for Tuesday, Nov. 15, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Memorial Union Hidatsa room. She will share survey results from research with the Native American population of Fargo-Moorhead.

• A session on making dream catchers and hemp bracelets is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 17, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Memorial Union meadow Lark room. The event, hosted by the Native American Student Association, will feature instructors Christy Goulet (Turtle Mountain) and Theodore Menge (White Earth). All supplies will be provided.

• A presentation on the history of Native American Thanksgiving by Joy Annette (White Earth) is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 21, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the Memorial Union Sahnish room.
