Norah Roberts and Madi Hicks are leading the North Dakota State University (NDSU) women’s golf team after the first day of play at the El Campeon Collegiate tournament held at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida. NDSU is currently in second place among 11 teams, trailing Longwood by three shots as play was suspended during the second round.
Roberts leads a field of 69 golfers after posting a score of +1 in the opening round. She recorded a birdie on hole three and had 15 holes at par. In her first 13 holes of the second round, she added three more birdies and five pars.
Hicks follows closely in second place with a +3 finish in round one, including three birdies and an even score through 11 holes. She has completed 13 holes in the second round so far, with one birdie and eight pars.
Freshman Jeri Lafleche, competing as an individual, holds fourth place overall. She finished +8 for her first round and is +3 through 14 holes in her second round, having made three birdies on the back nine.
Another individual competitor from NDSU, Lily Vincelli, is tied for 11th place after scoring +7 in round one and sits at +6 through 13 holes of the second round. Cora Larson shot +5 to open but is now at +12 through 13 holes to rank 16th.
Avery Bartels finished her first round at +11 and is also +10 through most of her second round, tying for 25th place. Bella Leonhart wrapped up her opening round at +13 and stands at +9 through part of her next set; Hannah Dunk went +11 on day one and is currently at +13 midway through her second outing.
NDSU posted a team total of +20 after the initial round. The team resumes play Tuesday morning to complete both their suspended second rounds and conclude with a final third round. Full results are available on the event website.
