North Dakota State University wrestling had seven student-athletes named to the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-America Team for the 2025-26 season, according to an April 1 announcement by the organization.
The recognition highlights academic and athletic achievements among collegiate wrestlers. Student-athletes must meet criteria that include excelling in both competition and academics, such as earning NCAA All-American honors with a minimum 3.00 grade point average (GPA), being an NCAA National Qualifier with at least a 3.2 GPA, being a conference qualifier with at least a 3.5 GPA, or holding at least a 60 percent win record in no fewer than fifteen matches while maintaining a minimum 3.5 GPA.
This year’s honorees from North Dakota State are NCAA Championship qualifiers Gavin Drexler, Max Petersen, and Devin Wasley, along with Tristan Daugherty, Boeden Greenley, Shilo Jones, and Michael Olson. Petersen has received this award three times during his career. Daugherty, Drexler, Greenley, and Jones have each earned the honor twice while competing for NDSU.
The seven selections tie North Dakota State’s program record for NWCA Scholar All-American honors set last year; this surpassed six recipients in the previous season of 2021-22. Since joining Division I in the 2004-05 academic year, NDSU has now accumulated fifty-seven NWCA Scholar All-American awards.
The continued recognition of student-athletes underscores ongoing efforts by North Dakota State’s wrestling program to balance competitive success with strong academic performance.
