The North Dakota State University men’s and women’s track and field teams will begin their 2026 outdoor season by participating in four different meets this week, according to a March 31 announcement.

This development is significant as it marks the start of the outdoor competition season for both teams, following their recent success during the indoor championships.

Most of the Bison athletes are set to travel to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where they will take part in LSU’s Battle on the Bayou meet scheduled for Friday and Saturday, April 3-4. The throwers from North Dakota State will head to San Marcos, Texas, competing at the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Texas State from Thursday through Saturday, April 2-4. Meanwhile, distance and mid-distance runners are slated to participate in two California events: the Stanford Invitational and the Mike Fanelli Track Classic on April 3-4.

Both NDSU men’s and women’s squads were named preseason favorites for winning the Summit League outdoor team titles after each team swept their respective indoor league crowns earlier this year. This recognition follows strong performances during February’s indoor competitions.

Looking ahead, these meets provide an early test for both Bison teams as they aim to maintain momentum into the rest of their outdoor campaign.
