The North Dakota State University women’s track and field team led The Summit League with five student-athletes named to the Academic All-League team for the 2026 indoor season, according to an April 1 announcement from the league.
This recognition highlights both athletic and academic achievements of student-athletes in the conference. Earning a spot on the Academic All-League team requires a strong performance in both areas, underscoring the commitment of these students to excellence on and off the field.
Reagan Berg, Ella Gardner, Kendra Mehrkens, Jaelyn Miller, and Marvelous Onwualo represented NDSU among those honored. Berg holds a 4.0 grade point average in biological sciences and contributed to NDSU’s third-place finish in the distance medley relay while also placing eighth in the mile at The Summit League Championships. Gardner, majoring in psychology with a perfect GPA, finished second in both long jump and triple jump at the conference meet and was named Championships Field MVP.
Mehrkens is an exercise science major with a 4.0 GPA who placed eighth in the 60-meter dash at championships. Miller majors in biochemistry and molecular biology with a perfect academic record; she helped secure third place for NDSU’s distance medley relay team and finished tenth in the mile event. Onwualo also maintains a 4.0 GPA as a biological sciences major; she recorded this season’s fourth-fastest time in league history for the 60-meter hurdles before finishing seventh at championships.
Eligibility for The Summit League Academic All-League team requires athletes to maintain at least a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a four-point scale, complete one full academic year at their current institution, and participate in half or more of their team’s competitions during that period. Selections are made by faculty athletic representatives along with sports information directors from each institution.
