NDSU men’s golf finishes thirteenth at Sam Ryder Intercollegiate

The North Dakota State University (NDSU) men’s golf team completed their second tournament of the spring season at the Sam Ryder Intercollegiate, held at LPGA International – Hills Course in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Rylin Petry and Jake Skarperud both recorded two birdies and 12 even-par holes in the final round, each finishing the day at two over par. Petry ended the tournament tied for 20th place with a total score of 220 (+4), while Skarperud finished three strokes behind, tying for 30th at 223 (+7).

Senior Gabe Benson posted his best round of the event on Tuesday, shooting a three-over-par 75. He secured a birdie on hole 8 and had 13 holes at par during the final round. Benson moved up two spots to tie for 67th place overall with a total score of 234 (+18).

Andrew Ballou was even through a team-high 14 holes in the final round, finishing four over par on Tuesday and +14 overall. He tied for 58th with a cumulative score of 230.

Carter White concluded his tournament with a final-round score of +15, placing him in 83rd at +37 overall. Max Wilson, competing as an individual, also finished with his best round of +3 after birdies on holes 8 and 14. Wilson tied Benson for 67th place with a total score of +18.

As a team, NDSU carded their lowest round of the event in the final day with an eleven-over-par performance. The Bison finished in thirteenth place overall with a combined score of +43.

The NDSU men’s golf team will take a two-week break before returning to competition at the Bell Bank Collegiate hosted by Minnesota. The tournament is scheduled for March 23-24 at Wigwam Golf Club in Litchfield Park, Arizona.
