Kapitzke sets personal record in hammer throw at Big Red Classic

The North Dakota State University women’s track and field team competed at two separate meets on April 17, with notable performances including a personal-best from Adison Kapitzke in the hammer throw.

These results highlight ongoing efforts by the Bison athletes to improve their standings and set new records during the outdoor season.

At the Big Red Classic hosted by Nebraska, Kapitzke achieved a personal-best distance of 199-0 (60.66 meters) in the hammer throw, earning third place overall and moving to ninth all-time in NDSU history for the event. Five out of her six attempts surpassed her previous best mark. Julia Gherardi secured fifth place in pole vault after clearing 12-4 (3.76 meters), while Ella Gardner placed sixth in long jump with an 18-10 (5.74 meters) result, closely followed by Grace VanErp who was seventh at 18-08.75 (5.71 meters).

Meanwhile, at the Bryan Clay Invitational held in Azusa, California, Reagan Berg ran a personal-best time of 2:11.06 in the 800-meter race, with Jaelyn Miller finishing close behind at 2:11.68.

Competition is scheduled to conclude at both meets on Saturday.
