Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak from North Dakota has expressed her support for the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) recent proposal to repeal the Clean Power Plan 2.0 and the Mercury and Air Toxics Standards (MATS) Rule. The EPA’s decision targets regulations implemented during the Biden administration, which Fedorchak argues have negatively impacted North Dakota’s energy sector.
Fedorchak stated, “These rules were crushing North Dakota’s energy and power industry and to the cause of reliable, affordable power in our country.” She emphasized that one of her initial actions in Congress was advocating for the repeal of these regulations along with 18 others from the Biden era. According to Fedorchak, these rules increased costs, compromised national security, and endangered grid reliability.
She praised Administrator Zeldin for promoting a deregulation agenda under the Trump administration that supports responsible natural resource development. Fedorchak described this move as a significant victory for both North Dakota’s energy sector and American manufacturing.
The congresswoman encouraged people to read her letter urging the repeal of these regulations and watch her discussion with Administrator Zeldin on deregulatory priorities at a recent Energy and Commerce Subcommittee hearing.
