North Dakota State University’s men’s basketball head coach, David Richman, has been named a finalist for the 2025-26 Hugh Durham Award. The award is presented annually by CollegeInsider.com to the top mid-major head coach in college basketball.
Richman recently received recognition as the Summit League Coach of the Year after guiding North Dakota State to an outright regular season championship. This marks the fourth time during his tenure that the team has achieved at least 23 wins in a season.
The Hugh Durham Award is open to coaches from teams in conferences such as America East, ASUN, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, Coastal Athletic Association, Conference USA, Horizon League, Independents, Ivy League, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, Mid-American Conference, MEAC, Missouri Valley Conference, Northeast Conference, Ohio Valley Conference, Patriot League, Southern Conference, Southland Conference, SWAC (Southwestern Athletic Conference), Summit League, Sun Belt Conference, WAC (Western Athletic Conference), and West Coast Conference.
The selection process involves a 10-member voting committee made up of current and former head coaches and two senior staff members from CollegeInsider.com. The winner will be announced in Indianapolis during the men’s Division I Basketball Championship.
