Britta Curl-Salemme, a former North Dakota high school girls hockey player, will compete for the United States in the Women’s Hockey Gold Medal game at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympic Games. The final match between the United States and Canada is scheduled for February 19 at the Milano Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena and will be broadcast on USA Network.
Curl-Salemme has played in all six games for Team USA during this Olympic tournament, contributing one goal and five assists. Her goal came during Team USA’s 6-0 win over Italy on February 13. She has represented Team USA at various levels since 2016.
She is the third woman from North Dakota to play for Team USA, following Monique and Jocelyne Lamoureux, who won three medals from 2010 to 2018, including gold in 2018.
Curl-Salemme graduated from Bismarck St. Mary’s High School in 2018 and played her entire high school career with the Bismarck Blizzard, scoring a total of 189 goals and 116 assists over five seasons. She helped her team secure four state championships under the North Dakota High School Activities Association (NDHSAA). In her senior year, she also won a gold medal with the Under-18 Women’s National Team at the World Championships in Russia.
After high school, Curl-Salemme attended the University of Wisconsin where she was part of three NCAA Division I National Championship teams in 2019, 2021, and 2023. Over her collegiate career, she recorded 86 goals and 93 assists in 181 games. She holds Wisconsin’s record for most games played and ranks among program leaders in goals, assists, and points.
In professional hockey, Curl-Salemme was selected ninth overall by the Minnesota Frost in the Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) draft in 2024. She is currently playing her second season with Minnesota Frost and contributed to their Walter Cup Championship win during the 2024-25 season.
